History

Karen Binder and Sharon Goodell, two women who shared a common disease, Ovarian Cancer, started a support group called Let’s Talk It Ovar approximately 10 years ago. Thanks to their foresight, many women have found their inner strength and gained understanding about this rather unknown disease from other women who have experienced the same feelings, aches and pains.

There is a bond that is shared by women with this disease. We have laughs, sometimes tears and always learn something new. We learn a lot about treatments, chemos and tests from each other. The longest survivors give the newly diagnosed hope and encouragement. Survival means finding hope where there seems to be little and confidence that we will survive. That is why Let’s Talk It Ovar has survived for over 10 years and will continue to flourish.

Our hope is that one day no one will need to be educated about Ovarian Cancer as a yearly diagnostic test will be the norm and an effective cure will be available.
